I will not lie to you about how long it will take to achieve your goals. Lose 30lbs in 30 days, 6 min abs etc. If it can be found on a magazine cover or featured in an infomercial it's probably out of touch with reality. Nothing worth having can be obtained in 6 minutes.
We will come up with a sustainable plan and monitor progress along the way. |

Sadly the fitness and weight loss world is filled with misinformation. To the uninitiated it can be a daunting place. I will only use a training tool or select an exercise with the end result in mind. I will not use a piece of equipment or exercise because it is currently trendy.
I am not tied to a particular brand of supplements or workout brand. I will make fitness and nutrition recommendations based on my knowledge and experience of what works, not based on earning a commission. No artificial shakes, infomercial products, snake oil, muscle confusion or pyramid schemes here. I recommend health eating habits and eating real food. I focus on the big picture. |

No cookie cutter programs. One size does not fit all. There is plenty of money to be made going online and selling the same program to 100,000 people, but with such huge variations in age, fitness level, injury history etc. people need a program that is tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Complex exercise and dietary practices should only be introduced when necessary. First, I take care of the basics that account for 95% of your success. Then, and only then, do we play around with the minutia.

I don’t get distracted from your end goal. Let`s take group training as an example. Some people really benefit from working out in a group setting and form friendships that last a lifetime. Let’s say the reason you joined a group class was to lose 50lbs. If one year later you have made a ton of friends, but are the same weight, something went wrong. A good trainer keeps their eye on the prize.

Some trainers are happy to take your money and have you go through the motions. How do you make sure you hit your end goal? You track progress along the way. Most people have limited time and a limited budget to work with a trainer. I like to focus on methods that provide the biggest bang for your buck and most importantly, I focus on progression over time.

"I’LL TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO HEAR, NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR." |
I believe your input is crucial, as is your enjoyment, but I won’t tell you want you want to hear just to retain your business. If you suggest a training method that I don't believe will move you closer to your goals, or is not safe, I will tell you.

Fatigue or sweat is sometimes a by product of working towards your goals, it is not THE goal.
Some trainers believe that their success is measured by how much they crushed their client in a single training session. This is short sighted and is an attitude that often rubs off on the client. I often hear people say things like “yeah this trainer kicked my butt, I’m just exhausted ”. The same person will work with that trainer for a week and never go back, because what they were doing wasn’t sustainable. I believe that personal trainers should measure their success by their ability to achieve results over a period of time, not by how tired or sweaty they can make a client. |

As much as I may believe in a particular approach if you aren't having fun, don't buy in to the process or are simply getting bored, the results won't come. There is more than one way to reach your goal. Your feedback is crucial.
